Tech these days moves at a lightning pace. It touches pretty much every aspect of modern life, and skydiving is absolutely no exception. Advances in everything from manufacturing materials to communication are embraced by the skydiving industry, and giant leaps in the quality and performance of video devices are always at the very top of that list.
Ever attentive to advances affecting our sport, Cookie is quick to identify tech that’s here to stay, and giving our customers a proper platform to put that tech to work is what we’re all about. That’s why we’ve designed the Cookie Roller Mount specifically for the Insta 360 X3, and the Insta One RS.
But before we talk about the Cookie Roller Mount itself, let’s talk about the cameras:
The Insta 360 X3
Insta360 X3 is a great all-rounder action camera. Its strength clearly lies in its 360-degree video capabilities, but it’s also able to capture 4K footage when set to a standard action camera field of view setting. It offers a rechargeable battery with a 1.4 hour runtime per charge and comes in weighing just 180 grams.
The Insta One RS
The Insta One RS is a modular camera system with an interchangeable display, lens, and battery base. Depending on the lens being used, this system can function as a few different types of camera systems. Insta offers a 5.7K 360-degree lens, a 4K Boost lens, and a 1-inch Wide Angle lens. It offers a rechargeable battery with a 1.4 hour runtime per charge and weighs 120 grams.
To accommodate these popular cameras, Cookie has developed its new camera specific Cookie Roller Mount system for both our Fuel and full face helmets. Specifically designed to reduce snag risks, our Roller Mount not only offers a solid camera platform but allows up to 75 degrees of angle adjustment.
Machined from billet aluminum, the Roller Mount, just like our helmet systems, is not simply designed to last, it’s built for ease of use as well. Attaching to Cookie’s utility plate, setup for each Roller Mount can be done in minutes, and with its easy to read markings, adjusting the camera to your desired angle can be achieved quickly.
Once you have your camera set, attaching it to your Cookie helmet is as easy as clipping it into place, then inserting the Roller Mount lock or release handle. For those using our mount in the tunnel or simply preferring no cutaway, the locking system is used, with the cutaway system designed primarily for skydiving. With both, once the lock or cutaway system has been installed, the sight window will go from red to black, indicating that your Roller Mount is secure.
